Energy estimate

Calorie Calculator

Estimate resting energy and a broad maintenance range. Treat the result as a starting hypothesis that real-world trends must test.

Interpret the estimate

How to use this result responsibly

This tool estimates resting energy with the Mifflin–St Jeor equation, then applies an activity factor to produce a broad maintenance range. It does not measure metabolism or prescribe intake.

Worked example

If the midpoint is 2,100 kcal, treat it as a hypothesis. Observe appetite, energy, training, and longer-term weight trends before making a small adjustment rather than treating the output as exact.

Important limitations

  • Activity categories compress large differences in occupation, training, and daily movement.
  • Pregnancy, growth, illness, medication, and adaptive changes require different interpretation.
  • Food labels and tracking also contain error, so false precision compounds quickly.
